Sophie Lowe

Sophie Lowe and Gillian Alexy are among the Aussies making waves in Hollywood.

Lowe has just scored the co-lead in the feature Waiting for the Miracle to Come alongside Willie Nelson and Charlotte Rampling.

Alexy will star in drama series Outsiders, a tale of the struggle for power and control in the hills of Appalachia commissioned by the cable channel WGN America.

Meanwhile Sullivan Stapleton will play an FBI special agent who investigates the case of a beautiful young tattooed woman whose memory has been wiped in the NBC drama pilot Blindspot.

Waiting for the Miracle to Come is the debut feature from writer-director Lian Lunson, whose credits include the documentaries Leonard Cohen: I’m Your Man and Sing Me the Songs That Say I Love You: A Concert for Kate McGarrigle. (more…)

She was nominated for ‘Best Actress’ at the ‘SoCal Film Festival’ for her role as ‘Mrs. Anderson’ in ‘The Next Mrs. Jacob Anderson’. She also played ‘Mary Jane Koch’ in ‘Sinners’ which won “Best LGBT Film” at the Swansea Bay Film Festival.

Steve Dodd’s funeral by the water – South Coast Register – 18 Nov. 2014

More than 150 people farewelled aboriginal actor and Korean War veteran Steve Dodd on Monday.

Mr Dodd’s funeral was held on a waterfront reserve at St Georges Basin near the Aloha Caravan Park where he used to live.

The ceremony was conducted by the Salvation Army and included an RSL service and a traditional smoking ceremony as well as many kind words from friends.

Owner of the caravan park, Russell Neville read the eulogy giving those present an insight into Mr Dodd’s younger years from a book passed onto him by one of Mr Dodd’s brothers. (more…)

Memorial service for film legend Steve Dodd

A memorial service for will be held next week for aboriginal actor and Korean War veteran Steve Dodd who died on Monday morning.

The service will be held at Blackett Reserve, St Georges Basin at 11am.

Mr Dodd lived in St Georges Basin for more than 20 years but throughout his life, lived and worked around Australia.

For about 70 years he played the role of an indigenous Australian character in movies and advertisements. (more…)

With great sadness we pass on the news that S. Mullawa Dodd passed away today (10/11/2014). We understand that Mr. Dodd entered the hospital for surgery and developed pneumonia.

Mr Dodd was a true Indigenous pioneer. He was a victim of the “stolen generation”, he served in the Australian Army, he played music and was a magnificent actor.

A memorial will held, as per his wishes, on:
