June Townsend

June Townsend passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday 30th August 2022. Beloved wife of Bruce. Dearly loved mother and mother in-law of Ross and Meagan, Donna and Mick, Jacqui and David. Cherished Nanna of all her grandchildren. June will be missed by her loving family and many dear friends.

She loved the business and blessed it with sincerity and truth. She was a friend and Mum to many. We will miss you.

In 2016 she wrote:

My memories cover so many years. Starting in August 1952 auditioning to be a “Terry Juvenile” the cream of children’s talent in the U.K. Chosen at my first attempt. My first professional performance using my Stage Name “June Arlane” . It was December 17th 1952 at the Bristol Hippodrome in the production “Babes in the Wood”, Produced by Emil Littler. Two days before my 12th birthday.
The climax was many years latter when I watched my client, the late “Steve Mullawalla Dodd” receive the inaugural “Jimmy Little Award” at the 2013 Deadlys.
The years between filled with fun and sadness.

The pleasure working in some form or another with you all. The list of people I have worked with or met is too long to contemplate. Be it acting, producing , performing, managing or being your agent.
I have touched all areas of this great business. (maybe a book worth writing?)

My former client and friend Waseem Khan now runs “Townsend Management”. I have spent the last few years as a consultant advising the many different fields we cover. It was indeed hard for me to let go.
The company will continue. Waseem Khan and Bali will make sure of that.
Thank you Waseem for your friendship it has been a blast.

I retire to my home in Shell Cove with my darling Bruce husband for nearly 44 years Supporter of my dreams, father of our 3 children and 8 grandchildren.
My best friend. We will weather the next years as always together in the Illawarra.
Maybe the Illawarra has many things to offer me. Lets find out. – June Townsend 2nd March 2016
